Stray Dog!!

Master you are over-confident on the fact that I will come back to you waggling my tail,but let me tell you that when a dog realizes that he is treated like a dog he doesn't bite his master because it loved,cared. But yes, it goes away living a life of a stray dog .

Few look at it with contempt ,few abhor and make fun of it but at-least it lives a life of self respect. You wouldn't understand master but you made me feel like a stray dog in the making .

I have no qualms or complaints because laws of nature will prevail and you too will be someone else DOG and a STRAY DOG in the making .

Reference Point

Of lately , I was told by my Ethics Prof that when you don’t have any reference points in life it becomes a rudderless boat in the un chartered waters ,drifting from place to place without any aim .Though I am not one among those who takes advices because I feel there are far too many to implement but this one since it was told on to my face while I was standing in front of the class and probably because somehow I was looking upon my life and asking some questions like : What is my aim ?, What is that I stand for ?, What is that for which I am ready to die defending ? . And not much to my shear surprise I realized that I had none and maybe this was the reason I liked being a loner so that I don’t have to make any choices ,so that I am at peace with myself but then I don’t want to break like a glass at a later stage .

There begins the search of a reference point in my life ………..

Though I have read some Biographies, life accounts, endeavors .I was never passionate or maybe strong enough to say: Yes, this guy has some sold values I need to imbibe them and be like him .But time has come to make a stand in this world to live a life.

Mahatma Gandhi, I had read his (sorry would use bapu henceforth) “experiments of truth “and was riveted to the couch till I completed it .I was highly inspired by the stands he took never once I found him un-wavered in his belief of truth and to stand by it .I was highly inspired by him he showed that by making a stand “The sky wont fall upon you”(courtesy ethics Prof ) u only win to gain(morally) not to loose.

Life of Buddha, a life marked by celibacy, abstinence from the material world also inspired me a lot and to an extent of going to Bodh gaya and spend some time there.

Father, a great person in whom I saw a never Die attitude, riveted to Family through fulfillment of family (Extended) obligations, Workaholic.

Brother, a diligent hard worker who always excels in what he does.

This list will go on and on and then I realized everyone has something good or bad why not try to take the good out of all but then that would be a very exhaustive list and sometime u might get hazy on what to do and what not to do. So its better to have one main figure whom you will look upon as the beacon of ray of hope .Hmmmm , though I haven’t finalized on who will be my beacon but the quench to find one has begun ,the one that will be my REFERNCE POINT.

Smoke on the Water - Day 1

Not because i understand and feel sorry for myself of being a chronic cigarette smoker but for building the belief in myself that i can do what i want , i have decided to quit smoking .First day has passed with great difficulty .It feels as if my jaws are craving for nicotine and all of my body is fervently waiting for that one smoke of cigarette .God i wish i pull it through this by tomorrow morning . If i do then i guess i have cleared one step .

Well it seems , the confusing part of me is what that makes me different from the rest .One thing that has remained constant in my life is lack of clarity i have in my mind for anything i do . Not that i am sad ,but i am not sure,whether its due to the feeling of fulfillment that is causing this in-clarity or whether its the lack of fights i am ready to put in .I have critics who argue for both. Hmmm , life can be divided in to work life , love life , social life .Fortunately or unfortunately all of that in my life is skewed and i am still least bothered as of date .Maybe that's because i don't compare and i don't have any reference on this or else maybe its the mystic aura which i want for myself or believing wrongly .Sometimes i feel enough is enough and one needs to end this life ,its shit boring .Rather than think over and fret over it, why not die and try to live another combination of life.I know i am blessed in this life immensely god has showered me with his blessings of "No Sorrow" till date.New dilemma of mine is hilarious .But i love my life this way someway or the other it helps my synaptic nerves on the prowl it keeps me active , it keeps me pumped in and i am dying to do anything for it ,its a kind of opium shot which i keep giving myself this is what that drives me , this is what i am .Phew !!!! Everything just evaporated .

As I stand by the corniche with my hands on the steel railings I gaze into the vast and deep, wilderness of the Arabian Sea. The cool wind blows over my face, making it numb and stoic. I am bewildered, perplexed to the core. Where did I go wrong? Then slowly some pictures seeming to be of my past float around, it looked to me like a collage neatly showing some of my life’s moments. Then I realize one thing was common, one face was un-dazzled in all of them, My Mom. She stood by me through thick and thin. I tried looking for someone else too but that face wasn’t clear, it seemed hidden but then she was all I wanted. Slowly, Stoic face became one of emotions; I was baptized by my own tears. My karma was clear and I return back to my abode.

Relationship

Of lately, I have been giving a lot of thought into the above mentioned term. Am I ready, whether I have the patience and tenacity for one? Am I ready for the commitment and Sacrifice, to give Respect? Though I haven’t concluded on that thought. I started thinking why many relationships don’t work. Then I stumbled on to this, we try to center our lives on relationship rather than relationship around life.

Following would clear it .Why do we have to change our life, lifestyle for a relation.What happens when we do ?

When we do so we actually realize over the period that our life isn’t the same. The priorities have changed and each part of the life is moved around to fit the Jigsaw Puzzle. Starting from our job, to friends, families, hobbies, interests everything gets changed we try to align it on the fringe borders of relationship. Then one day we realize that our lives have become a mess and try to fix it back by calling of the relationship.

So before we jump into one we need to think why do I need to be in a Relation? Can I give it enough of space? Once you have the answers for this try to tailor your life with this relationship. It forms and blends into your life without moving the other parts of your Jigsaw Puzzle. Having a positive Impact on your thinking process and you slowly start respecting its presence and yes a relation is important to finish the Jigsaw.

Turning left and right, pulling the bed sheet over my head , increasing the A/C sleep still evades me. i guess some random thoughts racing down the alleys of my mind barging on and preventing sleep from taking over me .So lets try taking some of these random thoughts.

So let’s delve into what’s sleep. I believe sleep is a mild form of suicide --running away from what you are ,a way to get away from the daily chores of life , a moment for guilty to become innocent, hard worker to become lazy, dormant to become strategizer, a form of meditation.

There is so much farce in this world. People are not what they portray to be, they are preachers and not followers. How does one keep away from them? The answer is you don’t have to. Why? All we should do is take the best of what someone portrays, the best someone preaches.

One profession one needs to take? I would say JOKER. Stunned! Don’t be .I ain't stoned .Why Joker? ,a person at whom everyone pokes fun. It aint just that. Right? A joker teaches us how to laugh amidst difficulties, how to make people happy forgetting your pain and theirs . He makes us feel life is so easy giving us courage to take this life head-on eventhough his antics might be life threatening. So it doesn't hurt to be a joker once in a while. A little goodness for the mankind ;So let us pledge to be jokers once in a while :).

MACT - How i reached there

Welcome to my past and would like to make it more adventurous by asking you to fasten on the seat belts ,:lol dont worry iam little cranked out not .

I did my graduation in CSE from NIT bhopal erstwhile REC in India during 2005, that means i took my admit during 2001.I was part of other 7 people from our state and lakshadweep who took admit to this college popularly known then as MACT then .My father and maternal uncle did a little bit of ground work and came up with the finding that this was a good college .Its worth mentioning that my father had coaxed me into joining the CET - Trivandrum which is also one among the prestigious colleges in Kerala but having my brother passed out from REC - Calicut, i was very particular of having this brand tag and my interest were fueled by stories about RECs grandeur from my maternal uncle and mother who both had accompanied me to my joining in bhopal.Even though my dream was to be part of MNREC- Allahabad[i used to solve sample papers and it had the MNREC tag to it ,so i though it was something great{What a stupid reason na}] but my father out rightly rejected it by saying to reach Allahbad is tougher than Bhopal[You have to get down at itarsi and change direction ,bhopal used to fall in the Delhi route so plenty of daily trains were available from Kerala ,TN]

I was never nervous about going such a long way to study because i had been to many places in india due to the circuitous job of my father who used to work in CCI .My hindi was good which many of my future friends from MACT would agree with, the untainted slang i possessed.

Having once reached MACT [ i prefer saying MACT because somehow that's whats in my mind than MANIT]i realized that the hostel was divided into 15 different groups .[Even though the number of states were more than 25 ,NE was more or less grouped as one]We had to go through a customary parade of being in formals[white shirt and black pants ] with a black tie and it was part of the infamous GR[General Ragging]which was considered as the stepping stone to MACT .

I would like to draw some attention to this poorly termed noun called Entrepreneurship.Lot of people think that being an Entrepreneur is all about starting a company.They forget to look at the work that goes behind the making .Lot of people on the mention of this loose term suggest to take some Entrepreneurship course.Esp the professors in the leading [Ok next to the leading] Management Colleges ought to know what it means.An Entrepreneur is supposed to have an Idea of which he is extremely passionate.He knows how to execute it and then works hard to make it work.Unless you promote Entrepreneurship in students ,India as a nation would seek to remain eluded from some of the greatest developments .Probably the way out of the Unemployment quotient of India is not the MNREGA but the unleashing of the potential of Entrepreneurship.Let the brains generate revenue and fuel our economy but for that we need some serious commitment from the government and the leading PE and yes not to mention the class of professors who chide at this term.Iam not requesting them to help but they shouldn't demean them too.

Where is this world leading too. Untouched Paradise

Waited for almost two hours in front of the paying counter like a lampooned goal post thinking ever vividly of the days of globalization and this untouched paradise of KSEB[Kerala State Electricity Board].Almost all over the world one gets to pay the bill through credit card ,over the counter through different bank branches , kiosks and here i could see people waiting in the sun to pay their bill with one clerk working out in Machinist fashion [Christian bale - 2004 ]. When will all this change and yeah and as a side note Kerala Gov is a great supporter of Fedora Linux that means all State Gov offices will have linux ,for the record ,the software under UID [under Nandan Nilekani ]is having problem since they dont have the drivers for the Bio-Informatics to work on linux :)

Life as i have always maintained is one filled with travesty and connundrums, more one try’s to solve more intriguing it gets.

The one that strictly adheres to the laws of gravitation what that goes up comes down . so be grateful wherever you are because you never know were you will be the next moment .

The truth of life is known to many but accepted by few because for the bitterness it brings to their mundane craving lifestyle .Only way to convince our super IQ charged-up brain is through reading thought provoking books of Vedas,Upanashids, discourses of great people ( Vivekananda,Ramakrishna to name a few from our world).

Iam happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."

But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.

We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.

It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. And there will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.

The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.

We cannot walk alone.

And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.

We cannot turn back.

There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their self-hood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating: "For Whites Only." We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until "justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream."¹

I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. And some of you have come from areas where your quest -- quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.

Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.

And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.

But not only that:

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

My Love

I met this person during the toughest times of my life ,he tought me the hardest things slowly but effectively.He taught me love,pain,revenge,betrayal,acceptance and last but not the least how to live a worthy life.Life is one that is lived to make yourself worthy before you and anyone that attains it throughout his life ,he has attained the moksha from re-birth.This person is non-other than the least understood ,the most relative and the less manifested thing with life, Its called the TIME . If you understand it ,you will live a worthy life.

Recession

One thing i know for sure is that the economy is loosing the trust it had ,everyone looks at each other with a sense of doubt .Maybe this is called recession ,were people are afraid to invest.

so how did it work before recession???

Before recession we had credit agencies which used to rate company on their chances of defaulting on a loan .which helped you on deciding the financial acumen of the company.Pension funds were granted permission to invest in private firms so that there return could be maximized.Bank rules were liberalized which help the people in subprime category to take loan ,engage into mortgages etc. This time it was a property boom ,like the blue chip boom we had in 2000.

so dont we have those agencies now???

Well we have them very much ,but inspite of these agencies people started investing in company without looking at their balance sheets. They took huge loans invested in these company entered into speculation, which was later drained off. Pension funds invested in these companys and their money wiped off :( . unemployment started ,loans started defaulting , production decreased ,stagflation took to the roads and rest is history with its fangs prepared to bite the present and future. Tough road ahead with lot of peace bound to loose.

I had been using yahoomail for a quite a long time .I was one among those who genuinely believed that they revolutionized the way people interact ,gave social networking a start.

So why call yahoo a shame ,i have been using yahoo mail on my explorer 7 once you login to your yahoo account the tab head shows weird script something like #-pg=showfolder******,if you open gmail it shows Gmail-Inbox(1) .so this made me think haven't these people ever remembered to correct this annoying display into something meaningfull like no of mails to read or atleast display the name . Is it that all the yahoo employees use gmail and never saw this :(.

Winning people at the grass root level is the success of any business.Making them feel that they are part of the business ,they are the partners in it is the key . Making a flat hierarchy ,making them believe that they are not working for a generic entity but for a person who understands their cause .People dont want salary rise always they want acknoledgment of their hard work,make them believe that if the organization suceeds they will be the first to benifit .Hmm these are my small thoughts in a small duration :) . And yes one more thing "No one can take away ,what is yours " .

Had been busy for quite a long time ,and my comeback starts with a philosophical concept which i found out :) .everyone says fate is fixed and god has prewritten it and we are all the puppets of his grand show ,i dont agree with it ,after a long time of thinking i have come to the belief that eventhough fate is fixed god has given us the liberty to choose the path to reach that destiny .isn't that wonderfull and if you remember this thing in your life you wouldnt be afraid of taking life as it comes and living the life your way.

Another year Gone By

Hmm ,listening to Creed's My Sacrifice ,i guess its the perfect plot for me to say goodbye to Year -2008. This was an year that changed my life in many sense from personal ,professional and on all goddamn thing you can possible think off. It had been kind of bitter to me an year which made me feel like a "Parapaleto" i guess i have spelled it right its a greek word ,condition of a hero when he realizes all he had known was wrong and he takes a moment to transcend the path to realize his mistakes .

I have been trying to understand .... what is a society ,what are the norms and what classifies you to be social and one of the society.

i couldnt get an answer but what i could lay hands on was a concept which i believe makes one part of the society and its PROBABILITY. The ability to be probable ,in a more decisive form the chances that you make choices which are more probable to happen wereby you move away from taking risks in your life.And when each person does this they follow a path which they feel will lead to less problem,less turmoils and we all go in a line like soldiers ,like disciplined to follow without asking questions .Thats why we see less change in our life ,its same as the person who is living next door and those who dont realize it are just trying to show that they are working hard and as the saying goes " Action is the enemy of thought and the friend of flattering illusions."

So wake up and realize what your life is ,try to take chances ,try to be different and not for the sake of being different and please for gods sake dont try to get yourself immersed in the superfluous activities which will take your thinking power on a ride .

Its always great to think and see where you stand in life so that you can know how you can move ahead from there.

Yesterday i heard that Harley Davidson has not dropped the idea of entering the Indian market ,only thing that's making them reluctant to enter the indian market is the import taxes of 60 % and then the extra 30 % of indian tax ,making the cost shoot up to nearly the double ,at whose-price you can buy two scoda and one swift.

I personally believe that we shouldn't be having this much high import duties on goods that are very sophisticated( if i could call them so ) because they just make them out of reach to the common man(or those who aim for the best). And for your kind information iam looking forward to ride one Harley Davidson only diff is that it will be a test ride ,since iam pretty sure i wont be able to afford it .

Mysterious "sys" Files

I had Checked the options in the folder option dialog from the tools menu .
1.Show hidden Folders and files
2.Show hidden system files .

And in the drive were the OS is installed i saw two main files:-
1.hiberfil.sys
2.pagefile.sys

Now wat are these files they look pretty big in size.I ventured out to explore and here are my findings
1. hiberfil.sys
Wen you enable hibernation in your system ,the system compresses the system info into this file so that at startup it can load up (for persistence).
2. pagefile.sys.
This is used by the system for VM and swaping .you can set the size of this file .

More info on this will be put shortly .

Services Information

All the information related to services that are run when the sytem boots and other information like which shouldnot run ,etc .. are stored in the registry .Next thing that comes into mind is were is it stored ,it's in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services all the keys under it have the DWORD value "start" which will be different which determines wether it needs to be run at start,suspended etc .

All the changes which we do to the services through services.msc or msconfig ( type in Run Window) changes this start flag .

Now since you are equipped with these information explore for yourself .

Check out the Api GetSytemMetrics(SM_CLEANBOOT)its return value of 0 means its in normal mode or else its in safe mode or in cleanboot.

NOTE:- This is needed because in safemode most of the services are stoped and maybe your app cant move forward without some services .
The services that are runing can be checked by typing msconfig in the run command .

Namespace a Real Boon

Sometimes it hapens that we have to use the classes provided by third party people and when two classes have the same name it leads to class redefenition compile time error and we can't change the header files because they are the root of the lib implementaion or others.

So how do you resolve this :-

FirstClass::CMyclass and the SecondClass::CMyClass are refering to two different classes therby resolving the compile time error.

How to create a LPTSTR,

Well yesterday i ran into the problem of making LPTSTR ,and i found that LPTSTR is an TCHAR * so you can allocate in TCHAR . another way we use it in MFC was to use CString then use the GetBuffer and ReleaseBuffer,some times it hapens that the function needs an LPTSTR .
I fixed the problem by making a smart pointer of type BYTE and then passed this class to that function were it allocates and gives me back .it converts the BYTE to LPTSTR using the reinterpret_cast(arg);

Note :-
DWORD :- unsigned Long
WORD :- unsigned Short also known as an ATOM .
TCHAR :- converts itself into the unicode or mbcs according to the hash define in the settings .
_T()- this is macro short form of TEXT().
_tcs :- the one used in front of the string functions which can be used both for the
unicode ,Multibyte etc ,it will convert itself into _mbcs** or simple strcpy according to the define in settings .
While setting this we neeed to give an entry point also in mfc its always the _winmainstart**.( project settings + link tab + output (from the drop down))
while debugging if you need to see the unicode string you need to go to
Tool+OPtions+Debug TAB and then check the display unicode string.

mystery behind USES_CONVERSION

Well this guy _alloca allocates memory from the stack and not from the heap,basically used by the USES_CONVERSION macro in the ATL ,leading to the cause of stack-overflow ,wen used inside a loop .This automatically gets freed when it goes out of the function scope .
And the default size of the stack in VC6 is 1MB .

ATL7.0 doesn't have this problem.

Have you ever noticed that the msdev we are using is not having an XP theme by default ,so how to add theme to msdev .
Its simple if you search for manifest files in your xp system you get a long list of manifest files , copy one of them to the directory were msdev is residing and rename the file as msdev.exe.manifest and you can have an XP theme for your msdev.

This trick works for all the application may be i should say it as a shortcut rather than adding the masnifest file in the resource of the exe and writing code to load them .

As i was googling today i found an intresting tool called the ResourceHacker, using which we can see the resource used inside dll,exe etc .You can modify it and compile thereby inducing the changes to the coressponding module you can download it from the following site http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/ the following tool is made in delphi.
We can also open the exe in our VisualStudio by making the " OpenAs+ Resources ".
I usually use it to export or extract the images,bmp etc .
